A Composition
I took a music theory course when I was a senior in high school. We were given the assignment to write a composition. I was so excited, I couldn't wait to get started! One way that I learned to write a melody was to spell a word out with notes. I decided to spell my little sister's name: Nicole. The six letters soon found its own melody and chords. I used Garageband on my iPad, and the piano was played by myself - live and recorded in one take. Because it was a live-take in my house, if you listen very carefully around 2:02, you can hear Nicole's laughter in the background. It was a fun composition to write, even though my resources were low quality and limited. And yet, every time I hear it, I think of my sweet, beautiful, and lovely younger sister.

The 30 Days of Movie Scores Challenge
In May 2016, I decided to challenge myself. For thirty days straight, I would learn a film score on the piano and post a video. With my passion for film and and adoration for the music composed in them, I figured this would be a challenge that was not only fun, but would keep me engaged.
I completed not one, but two 30 day-movie score challenges in two years! I have uploaded my videos to the first challenge (as well as the posts that went along with them) to my Youtube channel! I am in the process of uploading the second challenge! As I went back and listened to them, I found that some are good and some are a little cringe-y...but a movie score nonetheless. And who are we without growth?
Although I was unable to complete a third challenge, I still love to learn and play film compositions from the newest movies and keep challenging my ear-playing! I will continue to upload those new ones to the Youtube channel!
